In most landscapes, a bear is a large animal. In Alaska, on the shore of a glacially-fed lake surrounded by mountains that rise into snow, a bear is a small one. This is not a diminishment; it is a recalibration. The animal is the same size. The world around it is simply larger than the worlds most animals - and most photographs - occupy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOne on the Shore is the widest view in the bear series, and it is included deliberately.
