The aspen grove outside of Aspen was a challenge to reach but I knew the conditions were ideal. The morningi was completely still - no wind, no movement, just that particular silence that comes with new snowfall. The light was soft and even, filtered through overcast skies, which meant no harsh shadows and no time pressure. Hundreds of white columns rising from the snow-covered ground, their bare branches creating a delicate network overhead. In summer, this would be green and lush. In fall, golden.
