The 9th North sunrise image I keep coming back to. On this morning the clouds came in swirling patterns of orange and purple overhead, the pond held its reflection with only the faintest ripple, and the distant clubhouse — partly visible among the trees — picked up just enough warm light to glow.
I composed from a slightly elevated vantage, using ornamental grasses in the lower foreground to lead the eye forward, down the fairway, and into the reflected pond. The bunker complex around the green sits in the middle distance; the clubhouse sits just beyond it; the pines form the back of the composition.
This is the hole showing off. Every element you'd want — sky, water, grass, sand, architecture — arranged in a way that looks almost too good. The only thing the photographer has to do is be awake, be there, and be patient enough to wait for the light.
