I was out on the beach in Destin before sunrise on a morning when the atmosphere was doing everything right — light high cloud cover, low humidity, the kind of air that makes colors render more honestly than they have any right to.
The retreating waves at dawn in this light have a particular gentleness to them — not the crashing energy of afternoon surf, but a slow, rhythmic pull that the long exposure turns into something almost meditative.
