The Still Hunter
Each piece is captured in a rare moment where light, time, and place come together.
The bear was standing in the middle of the river when the light found it - that particular golden quality that arrives in the Alaskan afternoon and transforms every wet surface into something luminous. I had been working this stretch of river on foot for most of the day, holding a position in the vegetation on the bank, and this bear had been in the water for a long time before the light shifted into what I was waiting for. The fur caught it first, going from brown to amber to almost copper at the tips. The water around the bear's legs caught it second, the turquoise of the river surface broken into shards of gold and teal. The bear itself was still, reading the water for the fish that moved beneath it.
This is a different kind of hunting than the charge and lunge. The still hunter stands and waits, watching the patterns of the current, tracking the shadows that salmon cast on the river bottom, waiting for the right position and the right moment before committing. It requires a patience that is easy to underestimate in an animal known for power. The river was full of fish. The bear had learned that stillness was the faster way to them.
The Still Hunter is the most beautiful image in the bear series - not the most dramatic, but the most complete. The light, the color, the posture, the setting: everything arrived at the same time. At scale on metal, the warmth of that Alaskan afternoon light comes forward in the print with a luminosity that genuinely changes the atmosphere of whatever room it occupies. It is a piece for a space that deserves something extraordinary on its wall.

My Commitment
craftsmanship
Quality and craftsmanship sit at the heart of every piece I produce—long after the shutter clicks and long before a print ever reaches a wall. From meticulous file preparation to museum-grade materials and exacting color accuracy, each image is refined through a deliberate, uncompromising process designed to honor the moment it was captured. It is this final, critical step that transforms a fleeting encounter in the wild into a lasting work of fine art.
