Watch and Learn
Each piece is captured in a rare moment where light, time, and place come together.
The mother had the salmon and was crossing back toward the bank when the two cubs fell in behind her - not rushing, not tumbling over each other, but following at a considered distance, watching the fish. I was on the bank downstream, having worked down from the grizzly mazes that morning to find a low position along the water. The pink of the salmon was visible even from where I was; the cubs could certainly see it. They were watching the way young animals watch their parents do things that they will one day need to do themselves.
Salmon fishing is a learned behavior in grizzly bears. Cubs watch their mothers through multiple seasons before they begin attempting it independently, absorbing the technique - the positioning, the timing, the particular patience of the still hunter and the particular commitment of the lunge - by close and extended observation. These two were in the middle of that education. The mother carried the fish. The cubs tracked every step.
Watch and Learn is an image about the transfer of knowledge across generations - about the long, patient process by which a species maintains its ability to survive in a specific place. The mother bear in this frame is not simply feeding herself; she is teaching. The cubs are not simply following; they are studying. The salmon is the lesson. The river is the classroom. On metal, large, the relationship between the three animals is clear and present and carries a weight that purely action-oriented wildlife images often miss.

My Commitment
craftsmanship
Quality and craftsmanship sit at the heart of every piece I produce—long after the shutter clicks and long before a print ever reaches a wall. From meticulous file preparation to museum-grade materials and exacting color accuracy, each image is refined through a deliberate, uncompromising process designed to honor the moment it was captured. It is this final, critical step that transforms a fleeting encounter in the wild into a lasting work of fine art.
