Winter In Aspen
Each piece is captured in a rare moment where light, time, and place come together.
I arrived after two feet of fresh snow had fallen overnight. The aspen grove outside of Aspen was a challenge to reach but I knew the conditions were ideal. The morningi was completely still - no wind, no movement, just that particular silence that comes with new snowfall. The light was soft and even, filtered through overcast skies, which meant no harsh shadows and no time pressure. I could work the scene methodically.
What drew me to this composition was the density of the grove and the pattern created by the trunks. Hundreds of white columns rising from the snow-covered ground, their bare branches creating a delicate network overhead. In summer, this would be green and lush. In fall, golden. But in winter, it becomes something else entirely - monochromatic, graphic, almost abstract in its simplicity.
I set up to emphasize the repetition and depth. The trunks in the foreground sharp and detailed, showing their characteristic black scarring and texture, while those in the background gradually soften and fade. The fresh snow coating every branch created visual weight in the upper portion of the frame, balancing the clean white of the ground below.
What I wanted to capture was the quiet beauty of a winter forest - not dramatic or colorful, but calm and contemplative. The kind of scene where the absence of color becomes its own statement, where pattern and texture carry the composition, and where the mood is one of stillness and patience. Winter in the high country, when everything slows down and simplifies.

My Commitment
craftsmanship
Quality and craftsmanship sit at the heart of every piece I produce—long after the shutter clicks and long before a print ever reaches a wall. From meticulous file preparation to museum-grade materials and exacting color accuracy, each image is refined through a deliberate, uncompromising process designed to honor the moment it was captured. It is this final, critical step that transforms a fleeting encounter in the wild into a lasting work of fine art.
